The Squiggle Pen Rest is designed to keep your calligraphy pen and paintbrushes off your desk while in use. This prevents ink and paint from getting all over your workspace, and keeps your pen/brush from rolling onto the piece you're working on. It's made to angle your pen only slightly, so it stays up off your desk, but not at so steep an angle to where your ink would roll and drip back onto your pen.
