Leila, or better known as Calligraphistic, oozes delicate calligraphy perfection. Her thin hairlines, and soft close-up shots of her work make you feel like you're looking at a tiny masterpiece, and you are! I think her style and ability really showcases and embodies the beautiful nature of the art of calligraphy. Her work makes you stop and appreciate the thought and care that went into each letterform, and keeps you in awe of every down stroke, squared end, perfectly balanced flourish. Take some time and soak in all the wisdom and inspiration she has to offer!
And I thought last month was busy! I am smack dab in the middle of invitation season for fall weddings and trying to wrap things up before going on vacation so I feel a little bit like my head is spinning these days! And it doesn't help that Micahboo is teething, yet again... anyone else feel that 30 minute nap pain? Anyways, here's a glimpse at some of the amazing projects I've had the pleasure of working on!
Sharisse of Pieces Calligraphy has such a sweet online disposition; embodying helpfulness, encouragement and lightheartedness. And her work is totally in-line with that perception. It's light, happy and beautiful. She styles her shots so professionally and in turn has a wonderfully curated feed! I love her emphasis on brush-lettering, because as you know, brush-lettering holds a special place in my heart! Enjoy this glimpse into her creative mind!
A little while ago there was an Instagram tagging game going on to show us your non-calligraphy items you use for your calligraphy work. I loved the idea behind it, it's insightful, informative and inspiring. It showcases creativity and thinking outside the box, it's also a tool for others to utilize some of their everyday items to up their calligraphy game and workflow!

She's so warm and encouraging, and that really leaves a lasting mark on you. Not to mention, she oozes talent! Her flourishing makes me wanna give up, it's just that good! I'm so excited to post this interview with Elsa of Mint Tea Calligraphy! Not only is her gorgeous modern calligraphy reason enough to give her a follow, but she'll also fill your feed with hilarious banter, and this interview does not disappoint! Her feed has a refreshing, light-hearted narrative that keeps me anticipating her next batch of hilarity, coupled with amazing lettering skills that will leave you envious and inspired all at the same time!
Joi, the unstoppable force behind Bien Fait Calligraphy, is all things graceful sophistication and down-to-earth encouragement all in one human being! When I started on my instagram/calligraphy journey I, of course, started following her. Her shimmering gold calligraphy perfection was inspiring to say the least, but what really left a mark on me was her kind-hearted nature.
The fact that I've built a business around logo creation is hilarious to me. It's even more crazy that I actually love it! Because a few years ago I decided I didn't like invitation design and I really hated logo design - too hard, too messy, too long and not enough money. I swore I'd never be a logo designer, much less a type-designer. Isn't it funny how life turns out?
I love getting peeks into other people's studios and design spaces! It's so inspiring for me to see how they have their desk set up to their personal workflow, what tools they use, the art on their walls, the style and feel of the room. When I look at my workspace I often wonder if messy & mis-matched could be my brand? My studio looks like Lisa Frank and a vintage European estate sale had a baby and it puked everywhere.
